Obituary for Pastor James A. Manning

Pastor James A. Manning, age 74, of Atlanta, Texas, went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 10, 2018 in a local adult care facility.

James was born May 6, 1944 in Houston, Texas to James D. and Lula Mae Arnold Manning. He was the retired pastor of Open Door Baptist Church, Queen City, Texas, retired from the Texarkana Texas Police Department and Bowie County Sheriff’s Office. He also served for six years in the Army National Guard. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dotty Manning; brother, Earnie Manning; sister, Judy Thomas; step-daughter, Twyla Kilboy; and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Jones Manning of Atlanta, Texas; son, Lane Manning and wife Wendy of Atlanta, Texas; daughters, Karen Carpenter of Atlanta, Texas, Robin Bennefield and husband Ronny of Queen City, Texas; step-son, Lynn Jones of Atlanta, Texas; brother, Richard Manning and wife Deanna of Paris, Texas; sister-in-law, Donna Sampler of Lewisville, Texas; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives.

Memorial services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Open Door Baptist Church with Bro. Jackie Stanfield officiating.
