Archie R. Elder, age 89, of Bloomburg, Texas, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at his residence surrounded by family.

Archie was born December 19, 1922 in Longview, Texas. He was retired from the V.A. Hospital in Houston, Texas; and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Alice Elder; daughter, Janie Sue Elder; and parents, John and Janie Elder.

He is survived by one son, Douglas Elder and wife Sherry of Atlanta, Texas; one sister, Johnnie Rabalais of South Carolina; two granddaughters, Tonya DeShazer of Bloomburg, Texas, Mary Lou Elder of Bloomburg, Texas; and a number of other relatives.

Graveside services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, June 15, 2012 at Rosewood Cemetery, Humble, Texas under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 14, 2012 from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Cornerstone Assembly of God, Atlanta, Texas.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cornerstone Assembly of God.
