Obituary for Louise Robinson McGee

After 103 years of outstanding, glorious, caring and compassionate years, Emma Louise Robinson McGee went to her final reward on February 22, 2018 in a local nursing home. She was born on January 29, 1915 in the Union Chapel Community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Carrie Robinson, her sister Elna Teague and her husband of 46 years Tillman McGee.

Beside a multitude of friends and students, she is survived by two nephews, Bobby and Myra Jo Teague of Brownsboro, Texas and Bill and Opal Teague of Atlanta, Texas. Also mourning her death and celebrating her life are first cousins, Jane Brabham Murdock of Gilmer, Texas, Wanda (Brabham) and Don Posey of Temple, Texas and Charles and Elaine Brabham of Hughes Springs, Texas. She is also survived by a host of additional relatives ranging from second cousins to great-great-great-nieces and nephews.

Louise was a member of First United Methodist Church of Atlanta. She was a member of the What So Ever Sunday School Class where she served as class president.

She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She taught school for 45 years, mostly in the Atlanta public school system. Most of those years were spent teaching the third grade. She was also a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association. She was also a volunteer for the Atlanta Memorial Hospital.

She graduated from McMurry College in Abilene, Texas with a Bachelor of Science Degree. She later obtained a Master of Education Degree from East Texas State College in Commerce, Texas now Texas A&M Commerce.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Monday, February 26, 2018 in the Hanner Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jacob Smith and Dr. John Wilkey officiating. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service. Visitation will be Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Hanner Funeral Service.

The family would like to thank Dr. Dan Nichols and his staff at Ellington Memorial Clinic, the staff of the Wesley House Assisted Living, the staff at Golden Villa Nursing Home, and the nurses and aides of Kelton Home Health Care for their wonderful care and love.

Memorials may be made to the building fund of the First United Methodist Church of Atlanta, 701 Lindsey Lane, Atlanta, Texas 75551.
