Obituary for Lawrence Elvin Ware

Lawrence Elvin Ware, 84, passed away on September 20, 2017 in Texarkana, Texas.

Lawrence was born February 27, 1933 in Texarkana, Arkansas to Ustace E. Ware and Maxine Sewell Ware. He attended Atlanta High School where he played trumpet in the marching band. He continued his education at East Texas State University where he graduated with a degree in Industrial Arts. Lawrence then enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. After returning stateside he married his wife, Norma, and served several years as a Texas State Trooper before joining his father in the family’s business, Ware Plumbing, in Atlanta, Texas in 1963. It was at this time that Ware Plumbing became the local Lennox Dealer. He was a life-long member of First Baptist Church, Atlanta.

He had a love for fishing with friends and family. He loved to travel, and his goal was to see all fifty of the United States. He also cherished his time meeting his friends for coffee every day at Red River Pharmacy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mildred Ware Gibson and his wife, Norma Ware. He is survived by three children, Gary Steven Ware and his wife Linda of Atlanta, Texas; Linda Dianne Ware Williams and her husband Jeff of Garland, Texas and Thomas Alan Ware and Doris Dyke of Texarkana, Texas. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jeffrey Steven Ware and his wife Hannah of Anson, Texas; Kristie Ware of Avery, Texas; Haley Ware of Houston, Texas and Blaine Ware of Avery, Texas and other close relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held September 24, 2017 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Hanner Funeral Service.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Monday, September 25, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Atlanta, Texas under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service with Rev. Wes Mills, Rev. Dale Perkins of First Baptist Church, Atlanta, Rev. Mathew St. John and Rev. Jeffrey Ware of First Baptist Church, Anson officiating.

Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lawrence’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
