Obituary for Joyce Ann Wommack

Joyce Ann Futch Wommack, age 73, of Atlanta, Texas, went to be with her Savior on Monday,
December 11, 2017, in a Tyler hospital. She was surrounded by her loving family the entire
time.

Joyce Ann was born July 4, 1944, in Dallas, Texas, to Thomas Earl and Adeline Rhea Futch
and lived much of her early life in Irving, Texas. She was a graduate of North Texas State
University in Denton, Texas, and in July of 1966, she married her best friend and love, David
Alton Wommack, Jr. of Atlanta, whom she had met at NTSU. Her lifetime was spent teaching,
and she taught Home Economics, English, and Computer Literacy to students in Mesquite,
Atlanta, and Queen City, Texas, for thirty-six years until her retirement in 2004. She was a
member of the First Baptist Church of Atlanta, Texas, for nearly fifty years. At FBC Atlanta, she
spent over forty of those years teaching 1st Grade Sunday School, but later on she spent her
time teaching the Lydia Sunday School Class, her dear friends and sisters in faith.

Joyce Ann was an excellent homemaker and provider for her family, a doting grandmother, a
beloved Sunday School teacher, and a diligent servant of her church family. She also loved to
travel, and together with her husband, David, they spent as much time as possible each
summer vacation traveling to mountainous destinations in one part of the United States or
another. While faithfully following him on his hobbies in gem and mineral hunting, she took as
many pictures of the mountains, aspens, wildlife, wildflowers, old barns, and mountainside
mines as she could. She loved many different kinds of arts and crafts, traveling with her
husband, gospel music, college basketball, coffee mugs, her husband and family, and most of
all her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Joyce Ann was preceded in death by her parents and
loving husband, David.

Joyce Ann is survived by her two sons, David and wife Melinda of Atlanta, Texas; Thomas
James (T.J.) and wife Stacy of Grapevine, Texas; her brother, Thomas Futch and wife Sheree
of Tucson, Arizona; sister, Carolyn Cooper of Arlington, Texas; seven grandchildren, David and
wife Alicia, Matthew, Sarah, Andrew, Drew and wife Amy , Blake, and Luke; four
great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and dear friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2017, at First Baptist Church,
Atlanta, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service with Pastor James Williams officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 14, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hanner Funeral
